Spinning and Weaving Classes

Spin Together: Much like “Bring your own knitting”, but with wheels.  Join us on the first Tuesday of every month to spin with old friends and new.  There is no charge for this class.

We will meet every Tuesday from 10:30 – 12:30.

Beginning Weaving

Our weaving instructor will be available for individual classes this session.  Let us put you in touch.  $10.00 per hour.

Spindle Spinning or Wheel Spinning – your choice.  We will do either in each session.  Spinning your own yarn gives you the ability to create a yarn that is perfect for your project.  Practice to get a more even, well-balanced yarn, but save all your first yarn for texture!

Learning the basics of hand spinning on a spindle offers an opportunity to practice slowly with a minimal investment in equipment.  A high whorl or low whorl spindle will be available for your use in class.  Spindles and and fiber are available for sale.

The wheel class will include basics of wheel use and care, choice of fiber, several drafting techniques and miscellaneous tips for beginners.

Spindles and fiber available for purchase.  Class $15.00.  Every Tuesday in September and October, 12:30 – 2 p.m.

Bring Your Own Knitting: This class is for those who know how to knit (even if it’s just the basics) but who need help or guidance with a particular project.  Students can pursue any project they wish.  We’ll be here to answer questions and help with techniques.  This is a continuous class meeting every week: on Wednesday 10:30-12:30 and Thursday 5-7. Students can sign up for as many sessions as they wish, and may schedule their sessions whenever there is space available.  You do need to select projects PRIOR to the first session AND notify us before showing up.  There is no charge.
Wednesdays 10:30-12:30 and Thursday 5-7.

Registration:  Classes must be paid for in advance.  If the cost does not include materials, those materials must be purchased at Kindred Spirits.  Except in case of an emergency, class fees are not refundable, as a paid fee holds a place in the class.  Class sizes will usually be limited to 5-6 people, so our students can have individual attention.  And, of course, if you need additional help, you are welcome to come in anytime for help or camaraderie.
